There's a packed summer programme of activities and events at Dinton Pastures, Hurst's own Country Park, with something for everyone.
It's National Mammal Week from 30 June - 6 July, and you can find out about otters and bats. Later in July there's a dormouse survey, and an opportunity to catch up with the bats again at the end of August.
Each month there are RSPB guided bird watching walks round Lavell's Lake, and Wildlife Action Days where everyone gets stuck in to some practical tasks such as repairing footpaths and lakeside banks.
Throughout August there is a wide variety of wildlife games, workshops and activities. Countryside Rangers will be out and about in the park ready to ask questions, discover wildflowers and hunt for mini-beasts.

If you would rather do something more active, then try one of the courses on offer this summer, there are weekend and mid-week courses in water sports run by Adventure Plus at the Black Swan Sailing Club.
Fishing courses are also run from the end of July and through August when you can learn everything from setting up tackle and tying simple knots to the unhooking and caring for fish. Beginners' courses are run alongside specialist courses for carp (during August) and pike fishing (during October).
Dinton Pastures is run by Wokingham District Council's Countryside Service, which launched the new Biodiversity in Wokingham initiative on 10 June. If you would like to know more about this, call in at Dinton Pastures to pick up a leaflet and talk to one of the Rangers.
