St. Nicholas Church During The Interregnum
St. Nicholas Church continues to serve parishioners although it will be several months before the new vicar is appointed, writes Mary Langdown, Church Warden.
The word 'interregnum' refers to the time in a parish between the departure of one priest and the licensing of another; currently, the average time for this is six months. This does not mean, however, that the church will just be ticking along during this time as we still seek to serve our parishioners.
If you need to contact a priest, then you will be pleased to know that the Vicarage telephone number (0118 934 xxxx) has been re-directed to one of our priests. For any other queries, please contact me, Mary Langdown, on 0118 934 xxxx.
Services will continue to follow the current pattern with the exception of 9 February, which was Holy Eucharist with the Bishop of Reading, leading the Service. Sunday 16 February will be the Morning Praise service.
There will be Mothering Sunday services on 30 March. Any other service alterations will be widely publicised, particularly the Easter Services, which will be listed in the next Hurst Village Society Newsletter.
