Another Indulgently Successful Evening!

Thanks to overwhelming local support the recent Indulgence Evening organised by St Nicholas Pre-school Playgroup was a resounding success.

This year 28 different crafts and therapies were represented including aromatherapy soaps, hand made jewellery, beauty products, hand made greetings cards, chocolates, and treatments such as reflexology and make-overs. Everyone also donated a raffle prize, the draw for which was eagerly awaited.

At 8pm the first guests started arriving at the Village Hall, which was by then humming with activity as the tables and displays were given their final touches. The first port of call was usually the bar to exchange entrance tickets for glasses of wine, then a tour around the hall to see what was on offer. In a quiet corner of the bar area was the clairvoyant, who at first got some hesitant enquiries but was soon fully booked for the whole evening - the last consultation taking place as we were packing up!

Profitable for everyone

Another popular place to stop for a reviving drink was the Fresh Juice and Smoothy Bar with such delights as a 'Groovy Baby', 'Bite Me', 'Hunkydory' and 'Ba Da Bing' and other recipes with a variety of health-giving qualities.

By the end of the evening the feeling was that this had been another very successful event for everyone. More than 85 guests had bought tickets, the raffle tickets had sold well, and the stall holders were reporting bumper orders received. At time of writing (three days after the event) an exact profit has yet to be calculated, but the Committee are hopeful that the amount raised will be enough to buy a new computer for the playgroup children to use during their sessions.

The Playgroup Committee would like to thank everyone who supported the evening by running a stall, buying a ticket and bringing a friend or by staying to pack up at the end of the evening. They would also like to make a special mention for Select Wines, Ruscombe for their superb support in supplying and running the bar.
