Lunch Club Opens for Village Pre-School Group
St. Nicholas Pre-school Playgroup now has a lunch club which enables children to add an hour at the beginning or end of their playgroup session, and extends day-long child care provision in the village.
The Playgroup received the thumbs-up after an inspection from Ofsted, and the doors swung open on 10 April.
A grant from the New Opportunities Fund, which distributes National Lottery good causes money to education, health and environment projects throughout the UK, has enabled the Playgroup to set up the lunch club.
Wokingham District Council helped the Playgroup with the bid for grant funding, and hosted a celebratory reception at Shute End on 14 March, which was attended by several pre-school committee members accompanied by Annette Drake our district councillor.
The lunch club enables children to stay on for an extra hour at the end of their morning playgroup session, or start an hour early for the afternoon session. It also enables children to stay all day between 9am and 3pm. This is particularly useful for older children to acclimatise them to a full day as they near school age.
If you are interested in a place at pre-school for your child, or would like more information, please contact the Registration Officer, Louise Coe, on 0118 934 xxxx, email or visit our web site.
