The Parish Design Statement

A year after we started, where have we got to? John Lemon reports on the latest stages.

A Design for Hurst

The First Draft has been published, and about 150 copies are in circulation. Forty-nine copies were picked up from the Village Shop alone, and there were 67 visits to the Design Statement page of the HVS web site, including two from a Swiss address!

Some 33 parishioners attended the two public meetings in August.

We received 16 written responses from individuals. We sent 17 organisations a copy, and ten of them replied. Many thanks to everyone for your interest, comments and encouragement. Please keep the comments coming!

What next?

A Second Draft is now in preparation. We’ll consider the comments made by all our respondents, and produce a document, which will give clear design guidance to anyone wishing to build in Hurst. We’ll also include pictures and a map. We hope it will be pretty close to the final Design Statement.

There will then be another round of consultation before it is finally submitted for adoption by Wokingham District Council.

We hope to publish the Second Draft in December.
