Hurst Library Opens Its Doors

We are pleased to report that the Village Library, which is founded on the generous bequest of the late Denis Eastwood, is now open for business, albeit initially from a temporary home in our Chairman's garage.

The wide range of Mr Eastwood's interests are reflected in the 527 books available - from archeology through ancient history, the classics, gardening, military history, music, natural history, philosophy and travel. A full list of the books - all catalogued by David Shapland - is distributed with this Newsletter. Additional copies of the list are also available from key locations around the village, and a copy has been posted here on our web site.

Library Catalogue

If you want to borrow a book, you simply need to 'phone David Shapland on 0118 934 xxxx and arrange to collect it. Initially, we are proposing that books can be borrowed for a four week period and that there will be a limit of three books per individual at any time. If the Library is well supported, our intention is to move it to a more permanent home, possibly in the Village Hall, later in the year.
