H.V.S. Annual General Meeting
This year the AGM will be held on Friday 25th February at 7.30 p.m.
in the large village hall.
All residents of the parish are welcome.
This year's AGM will be held in the Large Village Hall at 7:30 on Friday 25th February.
All village residents are welcome.
Our District Councillor will be in attendance and questions from the floor will be welcomed.
At the end of the meeting wine and nibbles will be available for a small donation to the Village Society.
Items on the agenda will include Village Roads and the options open to us,
and a proposed change to the subscription rule.
The proposal is that the level of subscription should be determined annually at the AGM
and that membership payment should be standardised to run for the calendar year.
The new committee will also be elected at the AGM.
This year there are five vacancies, and if you wish to stand you will need
a proposer and a seconder - although this can be sorted out on the night.
If you are unable to attend the AGM but would still like to stand,
please forward your name to a current committee member.
Being a committee member entails attending a meeting every six weeks or so,
helping to deliver newsletters every quarter
and helping run the Christmas party and Archery stall at the Horse show.
You become involved in all aspects of what is happening in the village
and have a real chance to affect things.
It is also fun and a great way to meet people.
If you would like to know more please contact a member of the current committee
who will be pleased to help.
We always like to have a broad-based committee,
and would welcome members from Martineau and the Broadcommon Road areas
whose areas are currently not represented.

Garden competition
As suggested in a previous Newsletter,
the Garden Competition will take place earlier this year
and judging will take place in May.
Look out for the posters in Village Shops later in the Spring.
Circulars Concerning Local Issues
There have been instances recently where circulars concerning local issues
have been sent to householders.
Often these are thought to have come from the Village Society
when this has not been the case.
Any communication from us will be on Hurst Village Society headed paper
and will represent the views of the committee.
Contributions to the Newsletter
There appears to be some confusion over making a contribution.
Any non-commercial venture that is based in the village for the use of the residents
is welcome to submit an article on a regular or one-off basis.
Organisations from outside the village may also be eligible for inclusion
if they benefit Hurst residents (the Editor can advise).
Inclusion in the newsletter is FREE and it is delivered to every house in the Parish.
An excellent way of getting your message across to a wide range of local people.
Due to increased work commitments I am unfortunately unable to continue as Editor
and this Newsletter will be my last.
At present I do not know who will be taking over,
so if you have a contribution please send it to me and I'll forward it to the right person.
Items for the next Newsletter are required by Friday 28th April.
