Hurst’s Own British Champion!

Raging Rivers White Water Canoe Slalom

Canoe

Aynsley Buggy has had a good year. He was successful in his attempt to become British Junior under-14 canoe slalom champion, retained for the second year the Southern Region Championship and is now competing in the Great Britain under-17 Team. Aynsley’s first race for the team is in August in the Danubia Cup in Bratislava, Slovakia. The competition is being held on one of the world’s finest white water courses on the river Danube.

This year has also seen Aynsley’s first sponsorship deal; local company Independent Wholesale Express Ltd were impressed by the determination that Aynsley has and they have provided him with a new boat and enabled him to travel to his competitions. This level of support is vital in a sport which at all levels involves a lot of travelling. Having a local business supporting AJ has given him even more of an incentive to work hard.

AJ started canoeing at Black Swan Lake, Dinton Pastures. The canoe club at Dinton is still going strong with Wednesday evening sessions throughout the summer. If you are interested in canoeing please call the club on 9344424.

Editors note: I am very happy to include articles such as this in the newsletter. If you have a story to tell, please let me know.

Donation to Village Hall

We are pleased to announce that a donation from the Village Society to the Village Hall has materialised into a fine old wooden bar, which we trust many members will admire at the various village functions.
