Archery at the Horse Show

Once again this year the Village Society ran the archery stall at the Horse Show. Although takings were down we are pleased to be able to make the same donation to the Horse Show (£100) as last year. The highest scores recorded on both days were:
Sat Adult Stuart Lynch tied, in what became a titanic battle, with Sean Goldie on 20
Sat ChildrenJoe Coppuck with 11
Sun AdultChris ‘the biker’ with 20
Sun ChildrenJack Doncaster with 16

Our thanks to Chris ‘the biker’ who chose to forfeit his prize money.

We shall be back next year if you think you may be Hurst’s answer to Robin Hood.

Speeding

30mph sign

Speaking to people around the village a common theme often crops up, traffic, or rather the speed of it. Davis Street and the A321 through the heart of the village are the most cited cases but I am sure that there are others. We would like to see both of these roads have the speed limit reduced to 30mph. If you agree with us or you have concerns about a road you live on or near, please write to the editor stating why you feel the limit should be reduced. The editor will then collate all your letters and forward them on to the relevant authority.

Please do not expect a swift solution. This may take several attempts and we may not be successful but we certainly stand a better chance as a united front.

A word of warning. If your frustration leads you to think you may take your own actions as was suggested at the AGM (By the editor I think!) be very sure that you are not breaking the law or the Highway code. The last thing we want is for anyone to get into trouble.
